Port Douglas Great Barrier Reef Fishing
This is a great overall fishing experience. It can entail a half day coastal or full day outer reef on the water travelling some 8-25 miles offshore to the amazing, expansive and complex reefs systems adjacent to Port Douglas in comfortable bigger and stable boats.
Premium fishing gear is used to bottom fish and sportfish for coral trout, red emperor, nannygai, trevally and mackerel as preferred species.
This is a great all round trip for any angler, including first timers and seasoned kids looking for a bit more excitement and a great feed of table fish to take home. Shared and Private trips available. See below for the selection of boats we manage.
Not recommended for seasick travellers unless conditions are calm.
Trips are either shared or by private charter. Private charters can include snorkelling time on secluded outer reef systems if requested. Corporate or Bucks Days are by private charter only. We also have vessels availalbe for liveaboard extended charters.

Ghost 40ft O'Brien
This 40ft O’Brien vessel, is a custom-built, locally owned charter boat designed for Great Barrier Reef conditions and based in Port Douglas. With a skilled crew and top-tier equipment, it offers reef fishing, marlin fishing, Giant Trevally popper fishing, snorkeling, and adventure cruises to sand cays, islands, and reef systems.
The vessel features twin 550hp engines, air-conditioned comfort with sleeping quarters, and all premium tackle and gear provided. Trips include meals, drinks, and fish cleaning, with extended charters covering the Hope Isles, Ribbon Reefs, and Lizard Island.
Sublime Sportfishing
Sublime Sportfishing, a locally owned company based in Port Douglas with over 25 years of experience, offers private fishing charters on the Great Barrier Reef aboard their 40ft Blackwatch vessel, Aspro. Built for reef conditions and perfect for day or extended trips, Aspro features twin 450hp engines, a spacious air-conditioned saloon, and premium fishing gear. Guests can enjoy reef fishing, light tackle fishing, Giant Trevally Popper Fishing, and visits to sand cays, islands, and private reefs. Charters include meals, soft drinks, bait, tackle, and snorkelling gear on request, with overnight trips covering all meals and accommodation, and legal catches cleaned and bagged to take home.
Topwater Sportfishing - 25ft Contender
A 25-ft Contender centre console offers private full-day sportfishing charters on the Great Barrier Reef year-round. Known for topwater lure fishing, it targets coral trout, red emperor, giant trevally, Spanish mackerel, and seasonal species like marlin, tuna, and wahoo. Twin 220 hp engines provide a fast, comfortable ride, with a walk-around deck and modern gear. Charters include tackle, bait, soft drinks, and catch cleaning; guests bring their own lunch and alcohol. Locally owned and operated.
Exceed Sportfishing Port Douglas
A 25-ft Haines Hunter centre console offers half-day coastal and full-day reef fishing charters, personally guided by a skipper with 10 years’ local experience. Specialising in sportfishing—jigging, poppers, trolling, and bottom fishing—it targets coral trout, red emperor, nannygai, giant trevally, and seasonal species like marlin, tuna, wahoo, and sailfish. Twin 220 hp engines, a walk-around deck, modern Penn gear, and advanced Simrad electronics provide speed, comfort, and precision for small groups. Minke Reef Fishing
Minke is a 40ft Assegai custom built express style sportfishing cruiser with a cruise speed of 25 knots. Based in Port Douglas for private day charters only, this is a premium vessel for a trip out to the Great Barrier Reef.
Trips can include reef fishing, light tackle game fishing, giant trevally popper fishing and also adventure cruising opportunities to sand cays, tropical islands and private reef systems. Snorkel and diving can also be part of your day (price on application).

Atlas is a 7m center console built by Ocean Blue boats in 2023, powered by twin Suzuki 150HP 4 stroke engines with a cruising speed of 25 knots. It's the latest of vessels with all the bells and whistles.
Extended Reef, Game & Sportfishing Charter Package
We are excited to offer you this great Great Barrier Reef extended fishing package. Our local Great Barrier Reef is home to the best fishing in the world with a range of angling options available. Port Douglas is the closest based harbour to this Natural Wonder of the World on the east coast of Australia.
A minimum of 4 days is required to secure a booking catering for up to 8 pax. Trips beyond this can be for as long as you wish.
