Fishing On The Daintree River, Coast & Reef

This is by far the best river and coastal experience in the region. It is highly recommended for many reasons including catching iconic species, amazing scenery & wild life, all on the doorstep of the World Heritage Daintree National Park. A unique experience!

The long term local Weir Family is a very relaxed and easygoing team. They work hard to ensure every client has a good time and gives anglers the best chance of catching the fish of their dreams. They cater to experienced anglers and also welcome family trips as a speciality.

Their knowledge of the Daintree River, coast and reefs and its wildlife is simply second to none. In the river, the Daintree is the best system in the region for big queenfish, fingermark, javelin fish and barramundi. Mud crabs also flourish in season. It also offers the best croc spotting opportunities in the region.

Along the coast wrecks, inshore patches and wonky holes produce big nannygai, bar cheek trout, mackerel and giant trevally amongst others.

We operate a 6m custom built, centre console alloy vessel with ample fishing room, seating with shade and is great for fishing and exploring the river and venturing along the amazing coastline of the Daintree Rainforest. Powered by twin 90hp Yamaha engines and also the latest Min-Kota electric motor, this vessel has the speed and precision to zone in on all available species.

All fishing gear is supplied and food and drinks are BYO with eskies supplied. It is a 45 minute self drive from Port Douglas where you’ll meet at the local tourist hub pontoon just prior to the Daintreee River / Cape Tribulation ferry crossing. It is worth every effort to spend a trip with this operation. This charter is proudly 100% locally owned and operated and available all year round.
